What is netLibrary and why do I need an account?

Joint Base Lewis McChord belongs to the U.S. Army General Libraries Group, which has purchased 2322 electronic books (ebooks) from netLibrary, a commercial provider of online books in full-text. This ebook collection includes subjects such as computers, business, military science, resume and careers, ASVAB, study guides, travel, science projects and more. Cliffs Notes are also available. The ebooks are full-text, fully searchable, and are accessible from any Web browser. An account is required if you wish to check-out any of the titles you find. You can now view our Ebooks online without a NetLibrary account.  You just need a library account.  Click here to view books with your library account

How do I create an account?

There are a couple ways. If you have an AKO (Army Knowledge Online) account, you may use any computer to go through the U.S. Army General Library Online Resources page. Scroll through the list of databases and click on NetLibrary and follow directions.
Or
Visit any Joint Base Lewis McChord Library and use any library computer to establish a free account…..

Can I use netLibrary at home or from my office?

netLibrary ebooks are available from Library computers, as well as from Internet-connected home or work computers through the Library's webpage or at http://www.netLibrary.com.

How do I "Check-out" a book and how long do I have access to it?

The system of checking out ebooks works much like a traditional library. If the book you want is available, you can check it out by clicking on Check out and read online. You then have sole access to the title for the next 24 hours.

What does "Browsing" an ebook mean?

Ebooks can be browsed in 15 minute intervals. You will be allowed an additional 15 minutes as long as another Army General Library customer has not requested the ebook. You can browse an ebook without creating a netLibrary account.

To browse an ebook, locate the ebook you want to view. Click the ebook title to display the ebook information page. Click browse this ebook online, netLibrary will display the ebook.

Is there a list of all the titles in the Army General Library Collection?

Yes, the complete list is available at http://www.netlibrary.com/ListContent.aspx

Can I download an ebook?

You can download an ebook to your home or office computer and read off-line. With downloading you still only have access to the ebook for 24 hours. To read downloaded ebooks offline you will need to download netLibrary software to your computer.

What are the system requirements for the ebook reader software?

Can I print an ebook?

You can print ebooks one page at a time. If you are printing a substantial part of a book you will receive a message alerting you to copyright restrictions.
