Can our vehicles be searched when entering Joint Base Lewis-McChord?

Yes. This is part of the normal, day-to-day procedures when entering JBLM. Random searches are done at the gates of the base by security teams who will ask drivers to pull into a search area to ensure no weapons or drugs are being brought onto the base in vehicles. The security and safety of our guests are paramount to us to ensure everyone has an enjoyable experience at Freedom fest.

Are IDs required as we come through the entrances to Freedom Fest?

Yes. All visitors 16 years old and older must have a valid photo ID card - driver's license, high school ID, etc. JBLM is a Department of Defense military installation with strict procedures in place to get onto the base. Convicted felons, registered sex offenders and people with wants or warrants are not allowed onto the base at any time. JBLM has the right to turn away anyone, 16 years old and older, who fails to provide an acceptable photo ID card. Law enforcement officials will be at the entrances to JBLM to handle any access situations that arise.
