JBLM families, especially those new to the area, will find a valuable resource in the School Liaison Office. Whether you attend school on base or off, while you are here, the SLO will assist you with the following:
- Represent, inform and assist command
- Assist families with school issues by providing information, making referrals, educating families and offering personal support
- Interface, educate and coordinate with local school districts
- Forge Partnerships in Education to create links between the military and schools
- Support family transitions upon arrival to and departure from JBLM

NewcomersThe school your child attends is based upon your home address. Children living at JBLM will attend Clover Park District schools. Off-base residents can register their child In school at their local school district. To register, parents must present:
Servicemembers should not assume that their children will be able to attend on post schools if they live off post. At this time, openings are limited due to on-going construction/renovation of schools on post.. If you have a need to have your child attend an onpost school – please contact the School Support Services office to get on a waiting list. There are NO guarantees for any off post child to attend a school on post.Should you have any questions or concerns pertaining to K-12, call |
Starting SchoolChildren who will be 5 years old on or before Aug. 31 are eligible to attend kindergarten. The child’s birth certificate and immunization records are required for enrollment. Children who will be 6 years old on or before Aug. 31 are eligible to attend first grade. Immunization records and proof of age are required. In/Out-ProcessingAll military personnel are required to in/out-process through the School Liaison Office, which is part of Child, Youth and School Services. Any questions or concerns pertaining to the educational welfare of your child or children will be addressed at this time. If you’re a sophomore or junior in high school (or the parent of a student in grades 10–11) and are interested in college, you don’t want to miss this event! Learn about college readiness and access at a free event Saturday, Feb. 23 at Evergreen Elementary School at Lewis Main. “College Access: What are the the next steps?” is from 9 a.m.–1:30 p.m., and college and community resources and information will be available. Workshop topics include college admissions, homework help/study skills, scholarships, building blocks for academic success and paying for college/financial aid. Free transportation is available from Clover Park and Lakes high schools at 8:15 a.m.; buses will return by 2 p.m. |
