Newcomers. One of the most important things to consider as you begin your move into the area is thatthe school your child attends is based upon your home address. On-post residents’ children will attend Army School Liaison ServicesClover Park Schools. Off-post residents can register their child with Child, Youth and School Services at the central registration building located at 12th St and BitarAve for a before and after school program on Post. After that, the family will receive a waiver to have the child attend on-post schools. At times, there is a waiting list, so there are no guarantees that the child will be admitted to the program or the school. Joint Base Lewis-McChord School Support Services is here to make the transition into your new school as smooth as possible. Should you have any questions or concerns pertaining to K-12, please do not hesitate to give us a call.

Starting School. Children who will be five-years-old on or before August 31 are eligible to attend kindergarten. The child’s birth certificate and immunization records are required for enrollment. Children who will be six-years-old on or before August 31 are eligible to attend first grade. Immunization records and proof of age are required. Also, you can visit Military Homefront to find information about schools on and around EVERY military installation.

In/Out-Processing. All Soldiers are required to in/out-process through the School Liaison Office which is part of Child, Youth and School Services. Any questions or concerns pertaining to the educational welfare of your child or children will be addressed at this time.
